Retrofitting homes throughout the UK is part of all nations’ government policy. Whilst the overall benefits are recognised, the top-down approach has meant that a number of eco-architects feel that the experience of people, especially working women with families, living through the retrofitting process is not adequately recognised, especially with a view to health and well-being. A small group of concerned architects drew up questions they wanted to ask working women and this group of friends took up the challenge. All three are working with families at home. They all live in a rural village and in properties that are over 150 years old. In this conversation, they share their ups and downs as they work towards making the energy use in their homes more efficient and more environmentally friendly.
